Chris Donohoe joined the Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship when he was a freshman at Cornell
University. By his junior year in 2009, he had become the fellowship’s vice president and was looking forward to joining the ranks of the leadership team the next fall. There was only one problem. Chris Donohoe was gay. That’s right, gay! Although his sexual orientation had been known by other people in the organization, it was Chris’ decision to openly accept his homosexuality that was the final straw.
“I thought it would be an awesome opportunity to be an openly gay man in a Christian organization,” Donohoe stated.
The pastors felt otherwise. In their decision to ask Donohoe to step down from his position as vice president, the fellowship’s pastors explained that it wasn’t the fact that Donohe was gay that was the problem, but it was because “he no longer believed it to be wrong.” In the end Donohoe left the organization.

In what is one of the most bizarre turns in our Nation’s growing suppression of normal human expression, last Friday night Justin Denny, a graduating senior at Bonny Eagle High School, was denied his diploma for engaging in ‘highly inappropriate’ behavior—he blew a kiss to his mother as he walked across the stage to receive his diploma. To make matters worse, he ‘pointed to one of his friends’ in a friendly gesture. Apparently, this behavior was egregious enough to move school superintendent Suzanne Lukas to send him back to his seat without his diploma.
In the short exchange on stage, Lukas asked Denny why he thought he deserved his diploma, to which he replied “Because I worked hard and I earned it.” Lukas told him “no, go take your seat” and sent him back off the stage empty-handed because of his ‘misbehavior.’ Read the rest of this entry »

The actor David Carradine, who rose to fame as Grasshopper in the 1970’s television show Kung Fu, was found hanging naked in a closet in a Thai hotel room yesterday with a curtain cord around his neck and genitals. The police in Thailand, where he was making a movie called Stretch, originally believed it to be a suicide. But the investigation quickly ruled out suicide and concluded that Carradine died of auto-erotic sex that went bad.
Erotic asphyxiation, also referred to as “scarfing” or “breath control,” refers to intentionally cutting off oxygen to the brain for sexual arousal. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, such as hanging, suffocation with a plastic bag, self strangulation, or breathing solvents. There have also been a number of more sophisticated devices that have been created to achieve the same effect, such as modified gas masks. Estimates are that between 500 and 1,000 deaths per year in the United States are due to autoerotic asphyxia. This is likely to be a very conservative estimate as many cases aren’t reported or are mislabeled as suicides. Read the rest of this entry »

Alright, I am going to go out on a limb here and tell you that, when it comes to relationships, strict honesty is not always a good thing. I know, I know, we have all been clubbed with the mantra that honesty is the best policy since we were children. But this may not always be the case. When we share our thoughts with other people, it is important to keep a couple of things in mind:
Honesty is based on a perception, not reality
Honesty is a word for how you communicate your perception of reality. In other words, you are telling what you believe to be true in your mind, not necessarily what is true. Read the rest of this entry »
